Quality bloggers, alright, who blogs here?

I think I have read a couple of these bloggers blogs but I don’t remember them very well. Although this is a long list, only a few of them have seemed to contribute a significant amount of posts.

Blogging about a variety of topics?
Well they do have 17 categories but all of them have to do with blogging. Also, if you look at their frontpage you will see only 2 posts that actually can be read and get something out of it. The others are about contests, talking about the blogs earnings, and a post with a link to 1 year of free web hosting. My guess is if you read this blog you most likely have a blog already and won’t get much use out of free hosting, you already have hosting.

Anyway lets get onto a list of things I like and a list of things I dislike.

Likes:

  1. I do like the header of the blog and the color scheme
  2. The times when they post something half way decent it is usually a really good post however they are few and far between, calm down with the contest posts and start writing good content, with the number of bloggers you have you should have at least that many great posts every week.
  3. Not a lot of advertising on the pages
  4. They seem to be full of link love
  5. Seems to have a lot of commentators to keep discussion going

Now lets get onto dislikes:

  1. Why when I go to a post page the sidebar goes on past the white background? This makes some of the text difficult to read since it is now on a green background
  2. 6 of the 9 “Most Popular Posts” in the “Most Popular Posts Page” are written by the same person, Lee
  3. WHY IN THE WORLD DO YOU HAVE “META” IN YOUR SIDEBAR, NO READER WANTS THAT, IT DOESN’T ADD ANY VALUE!
  4. Don’t put your search bar at the bottom of your sidebar, that should be at the top or at least the second from the top.
  5. The Adsense ad at the top of a post page isn’t centered and let’s face it, looks kind of ugly.

OK now lets just see what the most poplular posts are and I’ll tell you what I think. I’m only going to do the first 3.

  1. 5 ways to get more comments and make you smile
    The 5 tips are really good and I especially like the 3rd one.
  2. Writing a great blog post title
    Don’t start out writing about a topic by saying you do the opposite of what the topic is about (hopefully that wasn’t too hard to follow). The post doesn’t really tell you anything except to spend a little bit more time thinking of your post title, if that is the case you should have written about taking time while blogging not specifying post titles.
  3. Why some people’s posts are always well written
    Here, I’ll edit the post down so you can get it in 5 seconds or less: edit your posts. how was that? was that a good enough post? or would you like me to write 9 paragraphs to convey the same message?

All in all Blog About Your Blog is actually a great blog, I subscribe to the RSS feed and read it regularly.

    Thanks for choosing us first. Just because not everyone contributes tons of articles, they are generally quality, and we’ll keep it that way.

    2. im not sure how this made it to the likes. the contest is important and I like rewarding our readers with prizes. I think there are several powerful posts per week.

    1. i have no idea how to fix that.
    2. yes, I have to update the popular posts page a bit, but i cant help which posts are most popular
    3. i have meta because it is a multi-author blog. otherwise id remove it like i have done on the rest
    4. the search bar was pushed down because it didnt fit
    5. yeah i was thinking about removing them. experiment
